Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP)
The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program™ is the international certifying body for EVITP™ Instructors and Installers in the USA and Canada. The training and certification is available to all individuals who meet the certification perquisites and does not require membership in any association.
EVITP is a voluntary, non-profit collaboration of electrical industry organizations including automotive manufacturers, investor-owned and municipal utilities, EV supply equipment manufacturers, electrical energy storage device manufacturers, provincial, territorial and municipal electrical inspectors, electrical contractors, electrical workers and first responders.
EVITP™ was established in the USA to provide a structured platform to facilitate training and certification for licensed electricians installing electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) across residential, commercial/public and fleet markets. EVITP™-certified Instructors are provided with a state-of-the art national curriculum in delivering a minimum of 18 hours of training to qualified electricians. EVITP™ is brand neutral and does not endorse or recommend suppliers.
In 2012, EVITP™ and the National Electrical Trade Council (NETCO) partnered in making the EVITP™ training and certification available in Canada. With the inaugural EVITP™ Instructor Training pilot courses conducted in British Columbia and Ontario. B.C.’s Electrical Joint Training Committee, a NETCO affiliate, now functions as the Canadian licensee for EVITP™ training. This is an open curriculum: in other words, if a representative from a college, government or utility becomes accredited as an instructor, their organization gains access to the full EVITP™ curriculum. Construction Electrician (NOC 7241) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Certified (PVSC) Personnel Certification
NETCO is a partner with CSA Group, a leading standards-based solutions organization, in a national certification program for Construction Electricians installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Canada.
The Construction Electrician (NOC 7241) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Certified (PVSC) Personnel Certification was developed by CSA Group in conjunction with the National Electrical Trade Council (NETCO) and industry stakeholders to provide assurance that an individual possesses the competencies deemed necessary to perform the job function of a Solar Photovoltaic Systems Certified electrician. This certification has been developed in compliance with the ISO 17024 standard.
Launched in 2011, this personnel certification program examines an individual’s measurable knowledge and skill rather than education and general credentials. It is the first program in Canada to offer a certification based on the tasks that qualified journeyperson Construction Electricians carry out in applying their skills to the installation and maintenance of Solar PV Systems.
The CSA program is an overlay to the Red Seal endorsement, and reflects the Canadian electrical industry’s commitment to lifelong learning and upgrading for journeypersons. The program does not provide the basis for a new stand-alone occupation.
